For Immediate Release
Audrey Lundeen
Scholarship Award Presented at
Christmas by the Lake CD Release Party
The
first $1,000 Audrey Lundeen Scholarship Award, on
behalf of the Bluebird Foundation, was awarded to
Stephanie Britz. She received her scholarship check
at the Christmas by the Lake CD Release party on
Thursday, November 20, at the Greysolon Ballroom.
Britz, who is a senior at the Harbor City
International School in Duluth, has been accepted to
Gustavus Adolphus College. While she plans to major
in science, she intends to continue to pursue her
interest in music, playing the flute.
Britz has participated in UMD’s Honor Band, UMD’s
Flute Day, and has earned Superior Ratings in the
Minnesota State High School League’s ensemble
contests.
On winning the award, Britz said, “It means so much
to me to win this scholarship. I definitely want to
continue to play the flute in college and beyond.
Whether it means I play in the college’s orchestra
or wind ensemble or possibly minor in music, I am
thrilled that I can keep on with my passion of
playing the flute.”
The
Scholarship is named in honor of Audrey Lundeen,
mother of Bluebird Foundation’s president
Tracy Lundeen, who inspired and supported him in
pursuing his musical talents.
Christmas by the Lake Volume 8, a compilation of
holiday songs by Northland musicians will be
available beginning November 21st at
Duluth/Superior/Cloquet/Two Harbors Super One Food
locations and Pam's Hallmark in the Miller Hill
Mall.
All proceeds for the Christmas by the Lake CDs will
support the Bluebird Foundation’s mission: To be an
advocate for area youth in the performing arts and
to create awareness of the power of the arts to
enhance self-esteem, to increase understanding of
others, and to improve academic performance.”
The CDS can also be purchased at the release party
